Bidar: Woman Raped, Murdered, Accused Arrested, Protest Erupts in the City
Bidar: A horrifying incident has shaken the city of Bidar, Karnataka, where an 18-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered. Authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with the case. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and protests demanding justice for the victim.
The young woman had been missing since August 29, and her lifeless body was discovered on September 1 in a secluded area near a government primary school in Gunatheerthawadi. Initially, police registered the case as a murder, but after the autopsy and further investigation, it was reclassified as a case of rape and murder.
The post-mortem report revealed that the victim sustained a fatal head injury, believed to have been caused by a stone. According to police sources, one of the accused carried out the brutal assault, while the other two waited nearby in a vehicle.
Bidar Superintendent of Police, Pradeep Gunte, confirmed that the key suspect was related to the victim, adding that a special three-member team has been formed to further investigate the case. He also mentioned that the victim belonged to a Scheduled Tribe, raising concerns about the nature of the crime.
The gruesome act has ignited anger across the city, with hundreds of protestors taking to the streets, holding placards and banners, and blocking roads in Bidar as they demand swift justice. The protests have intensified, highlighting the community’s deep frustration with such heinous acts.
Karnataka’s Minister Eshwar Khandre visited the grieving family, condemning the crime as a “satanic act.” He assured them that the state government would offer support, confirming that Rs 4 lakh in compensation would be provided to the victim’s family.
As the investigation continues, the city of Bidar remains gripped by sorrow and anger, as calls for justice echo throughout the region.
